Soup - here is the time when we turn off our brains and take a break. We have prepared for you 10 useful tips on how to travel with a furry friend.

#1 - Pay special attention to dog behavior

No matter how well you know your pup, traveling can be extremely stressful for him. All noise, change of surroundings, smell, etc. he can do his thing. Therefore, be extremely attentive to his behavior. Example: use a carrier, as a frightened puppy can easily find a place under the seat and thus possibly endanger even your safety while driving. So, make sure that he is as comfortable as possible and that he always has enough space.

#2 - Food and Drink

Travel can be unpredictable. Therefore, always, but really ALWAYS, have food and cold water with you that you can offer your puppy in case of a long trip or unforeseen events. Well, of course, don't just have food and water for special occasions, but always when you go on a trip.

We recommend BecoPets collapsible travel containers .

#3 - Puppy First Aid

Puppy first aid is a very broad topic, but there are some basics. Have bandages, plasters, disinfectant, scissors and gauze with you.

#4 - Calming aids

Some puppies just can't stand traveling. In this case, give him NATURAL products to calm him beforehand. We recommend products containing calming herbs. If this does not help, consult a veterinarian.

#5 - Security

Dogs and cats are very agile and fast in case of danger. For this reason, make sure that your puppy is well tied or locked in the carrier, otherwise it may run away when it senses danger. We're not taking this lying down, are we? 🙂

#6 - Transporter

There are many different carriers on the market these days that are customized for your puppy. Not only do they provide maximum security, but the puppy feels safe in it. Get a quality carrier that will provide your puppy with enough comfort and safety throughout the journey.

#7 - Don't let your puppy roam the vehicle

The dog must not move freely around the vehicle. It can reach the feet or the area where the vehicle is operated, which can cause an accident. Therefore, secure it well and restrict its movement.

#8 - Get him used to traveling as a puppy

We all know that education starts immediately. This also applies to the case of driving and travelling. The sooner your puppy learns how to travel, the more accustomed he will be and the journey will not be stressful for him. Older puppies, who are not used to the means of transport, can have big problems with traveling because of this. So - train the young!

#9 - Identification tag / collar

It is recommended that you equip your puppy with an identification tag or collar with your information. Otherwise, our puppies are chipped, but it is still easier in case of loss that the puppy has immediately visible information about the owner. In this way, the finder will be able to act more quickly and return the puppy to its owner.

#10 - Chipping

Chipping is mandatory for all puppies in Slovenia. Veterinarians insert a chip with a serial number into the subcutaneous tissue of the puppy's neck. This number contains information about the puppy and the owner.

... and last but not least - happy journey 😀
